Managing Media Files
Click the Media button in the left panel to reveal all the media files uploaded to this page's media folder.
You can take various actions here:
- Upload files
- Create folders
- Download files as a zip
- Rename or delete specific files
The address of the folder is displayed at the top. For more detailed control over media files, navigate to Dashboard > Settings > Media > Folder Path.
Deleting Media
Deleting a file or folder from the media manager moves it to Deleted Media, where it can be restored or permanently removed. Attached media removed when deleting a page or product can also appear in this bin.
Before deleting media, check whether it is still used by another page, product, email or download link. The file is removed from its public location when it goes into the bin, so existing images and links may stop working.
Restoring Deleted Media
- Go to Dashboard > Settings > Changes.
- Click View Deleted Media.
- Find the file or folder using its name, original location and deletion details.
- Click Restore, then confirm.
The item returns to its original location. A folder restore includes the files held inside it. Oncord refuses the restore if a file or folder already occupies that location; review and rename or move the existing item first.
Restoring media does not restore a deleted page or product record. Use the Changes history and deleted-media guide for record recovery and more details.
Reducing File System Storage
Deleted media still counts towards your account's storage while it is in the bin. Because it is held privately, it contributes to the File System category rather than active Media. Moving media into the bin keeps the original files for recovery; it does not free the space occupied by those originals.
- Go to Dashboard > Settings > My Account, then click View Details for your storage usage.
- Review files and folder sizes under Settings > Media. Download a copy of anything you may need, and delete only media that is no longer used.
- Go to Settings > Changes > View Deleted Media and review the retained files and folders.
- Click Delete beside an unwanted item and confirm to remove it permanently. Use Empty bin only when you are sure every item can be permanently removed.
Permanent deletion and emptying the bin cannot be undone. Those files will no longer be available through Deleted Media or when undoing a page or product deletion.
Storage statistics are updated daily. Check again after the next update rather than expecting the displayed total to change immediately. File System storage can include other account files, so emptying Deleted Media will not necessarily reduce that category to zero.
For future uploads, optimise images for the web. For large videos, consider embedding a video hosted on YouTube or Vimeo instead of uploading it to your account.
